Scholarship Opportunities
Knox County Recycling and Litter Prevention
Environmental Scholarship

This $500 non-renewable scholarship is offered by the Board of Knox County Commissioners, Recycling and Litter Prevention Program.

  • This scholarship, will be awarded to a senior (or graduating junior) attending a high school or home schooled within the boundaries of Knox County.
  • To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must have participated in at least one organized recycling drive or litter clean up, be it from school, church, scouting, 4-H or another organization and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  • This scholarship is made possible through funds and donations strictly allocated to recycling and litter prevention awareness and education in Knox County.
  • Application deadline is April 15th of each year. The recipient will be announced on April 30th.
  • Selection of the recipient will be made by the Board of Knox County Commissioners based significantly upon involvement in environmental efforts having to do with recycling and litter clean up.
  • A $500 check, payable to the college, university or technical school of one's choice, will be issued prior to the beginning of what is deemed as the first semester.

    The goal of the Environmental Scholarship is to get area youths more involved with creating a healthy environment by promoting and awarding recycling and litter prevention activities.


C. R. MEYERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This $1,000 non-renewable scholarship is offered by the Ohio Association of Litter Prevention and Recycling Professionals (OALPRP).

  • This scholarship will be awarded to an individual who is or will be enrolled at an accredited Ohio College, university, or technical school.

  • The applicant must be enrolled in a major relating to environmental sciences or environmental education.

  • The applicant must reside in Knox County or in another OALPRP member community.
  • Application deadline is April 15th of each year. The recipient of the scholarship will be announced in June.
  • OALPRP awards a $1,000 scholarship annually. Each year one student is selected to receive the one time award.

    The purpose of this scholarship is to demonstrate OALPRP's commitment to professional education in the fields of environmental science and education.
