On Friday November 20, Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster sentenced five men for various crimes, according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.

Buck R. Stevens, 32, Mount Vernon, was convicted of burglary and aggravated assault for entering a West Vine Street residence, on August 22, and fracturing the jaw of a sleeping male resident. Stevens was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay $3,451.17 in restitution to the victim. Patrolman Jeremiah Armstrong, Mount Vernon Police Department, responded to the scene and investigated the case.

Randy S. Turner, 35, Madison County, Kentucky, used a stolen bank card to buy items at various businesses, on January 14, 2008. Turner was convicted of receiving stolen property and sentenced him to 11 months in prison. He was also ordered to pay $1,117.48 to the victims. Patrolman Jason Payne, MVPD, investigated the case.

Gerald C. Jackson, 45, Nellie, Ohio, was convicted of selling marihuana to a confidential informant working for the MVPD, on March 27. Jackson was sentenced to an eighteen month term of community control supervision, six months in the Knox County Jail, and his driver’s license was suspended for six months. He will serve an 11 month prison term if he fails to comply with the conditions of his supervision. Detective Sergeant Jeff Jacobs, Detective Corporal Matt Dailey, Detective Craig Feeney, and Detective Dave McElroy, MVPD, investigated the case.

Christopher M. Gasiewski, 42, Mount Vernon, was convicted of charging $771.39 on a credit card that did not belong to him, on October 11, 2008. Gasiewski was also convicted of possessing the stolen credit card. He was sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision, ordered to pay $641.48 in restitution to the victim, and he must obtain and maintain full-time employment. Gasiewski will serve an 11 month prison term if he fails to comply with the conditions of his supervision, according to Thatcher. Patrolman Jessica Butler, MVPD investigated the case.

Nicholas S. Parsons, 21, Howard, was convicted of theft of drugs for entering a residence on May 23, on the pretense of needing to use the bathroom and stealing a quantity of prescription drugs from the medicine cabinet. Parsons was sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision, ordered to pay $80.28, and he must obtain and maintain full-time employment. He was also ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment. Parsons will serve a 17 month prison term if he fails to comply with the conditions of his supervision.
