On Friday November 6, Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster sentenced one man and two women for various felony crimes, according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.
Wayne W. Rittenhouse, Jr., 26, Frazeysburg, was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor for having sex with a 14 year old female victim, on April 26. Rittenhouse was sentenced to a three year prison term. Thatcher said Rittenhouse was also classified as a Tier II sex offender who must register his address with authorities for the next 25 years. Detective Craig Feeney, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
Jodiah L. Berger, 27, Fredericktown, was convicted of attempted robbery for her participation in a robbery, on March 28. Thatcher said Berger helped Jacob R. McQueen, 24, Mount Vernon, rob a male victim of his wallet behind a bar in downtown Mount Vernon. Berger was sentenced to 180 days in the Knox County Jail. Berger also received a 17 month prison sentence that is suspended during a three year term of community control supervision. Her supervision terms include mandatory drug and alcohol assessment and treatment and a requirement that she obtain and maintain full-time employment. McQueen was sentenced to a four year prison term on July 30, according to Thatcher. Detective Corporal Matt Dailey and Patrolman Travis Tharp, MVPD, investigated both cases.
Felicia D. Nelson, 18, Newark, was convicted of receiving stolen property after she was caught with items stolen in the burglary of a Mount Vernon residence, on May 16. Nelson was sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision and she was ordered to pay $339.50 in restitution to the victim. Judge Eyster also sentenced Nelson to serve 41 days in the Knox County Jail. In addition, Nelson was ordered to undergo mandatory drug and alcohol assessment and treatment and obtain and maintain full-time employment. Nelson will serve an 11 month prison term if she fails to comply with the conditions of her supervision. Detective Dave McElroy and Patrolman Tim Durbin, MVPD, recovered the stolen property from a residence Nelson shared with Steven Tomlin, on May 17. Tomlin was sentenced to a 17 month prison term for burglary on October 2, according to Thatcher.
