On Friday October 30, Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster sentenced eight men and two women for various felony crimes and community control supervision violations, according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.

Christopher A. Moran, Jr., 24, Howard, was convicted of complicity in the commission of theft of firearms and breaking and entering for aiding and abetting four accomplices during an early morning break in, on May 17. Moran was sentenced to a prison term of four years and eleven months. Thatcher said Moran led his accomplices to a residence near Danville, but he stayed in the vehicle while the others broke into the home and a barn. A muzzleloader, shotgun and other personal property were stolen from the residence. All five men were caught at the scene by Knox County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call. Detective Dave Light, KCSO, investigated the case.

Bradley M. Putnam, 50, and Miranda L. Wintz, 27, Mount Vernon, were convicted of possessing on June 8, approximately $1,200.00 worth of tools and equipment stolen from a business in Fredericktown. Putnam and Wintz were also convicted of stealing tools and equipment from the same business valued at approximately $3,000.00, between May 1 and June 8. Due to Putnam’s criminal record, he was sentenced to an 11 month prison term. Wintz will serve a 30 day jail sentence and a three year term of community control supervision. Her 11 month prison sentence was suspended. Chief Jerry Day and Patrolman Beau Ayers, Fredericktown Police Department, investigated the cases.

Debbie S. Fabian, 44, Heath, was convicted of passing eight bad checks totaling $1,652.00 between April 6 and 12, 2008. Fabian was sentenced to an 11 month prison term concurrent with a prison term she is already serving for a felony conviction in Licking County. Deputy Tim Light, KCSO, investigated the case.

Troy D. Patrick, 41, Mount Vernon, was convicted of felony domestic violence for assaulting his spouse on June 13, 2009. Patrick’s 17 month prison sentence will be suspended during a three year term of community control supervision that includes mandatory drug and alcohol assessment and treatment. Thatcher said Patrick has been in jail since June. Detective Dave McElroy and Patrolman Kyle Theibert, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.

Jeremie M. Yunker, 28, Mansfield, was convicted of trafficking in marihuana and possession for selling marihuana to a confidential informant working for the MVPD, on April 16. Yunker’s 17 month prison sentence was suspended while he serves a three year term of community control supervision. Yunker was also fined $2,500.00 and his driver’s license was suspended for six months. The case was investigated by Detective Craig Feeney, MVPD.

Harvey J. Miller, 54, Utica, was convicted of two counts of gross sexual imposition for having sexual contact by force or threat of force with two victims on about December 29, 2007 and October 1, 2008. Miller’s 17 month prison sentence was suspended while he serves a three year term of community control supervision. Miller was sentenced to jail for 60 days, and he was classified as a sex offender with a 15 year duty to register his address with authorities. William C. Miller, 88, Mount Vernon, was convicted of two counts of obstructing official business for writing letters threatening the lives of a municipal court judge and court probation officer, on March 27 and April 3. Miller’s 11 month prison sentence was suspended while he serves a three year term of community control supervision.

David L. Doyle, 25, Mount Vernon, and Tyler A. Shaw, 20, Mount Vernon, admitted to violating the terms of their community control supervision. Doyle’s supervision was continued with additional sanctions including a 180 day jail sentence and a requirement that he must successfully complete a drug rehabilitation program. Shaw’s supervision was terminated and he was sent to prison for 17 months, according to Thatcher.
