On Friday October, 16, Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster sentenced five men and one woman for various felony crimes according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.
Cody L. Myers, 20, Mount Vernon, was convicted of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor for engaging in sexual conduct on January 10 with a 12-year old girl and a 13-year old girl. Thatcher said Myers was sentenced to four years in prison for his crimes, and he was labeled a Tier III sex offender who must register his address with authorities for the rest of his life.
Marlon A. Major, 32, Mount Vernon, was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor for having sex with a 15-year old girl, on December 27, 2008. Judge Eyster sentenced him to seventeen months in prison and labeled him a Tier II sex offender who must register his address with authorities for the next twenty-five years.
Detective Tom Bumpus, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the Myers and Major cases.
On December 12, 2008, David A. Baugh, 19, Fredericktown, was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision. Baugh’s community control supervision was revoked after he admitted to violating his supervision rules by failing to inform his supervising officer of his place of residence, violating his residential curfew, as well as not completing his drug and alcohol treatment plan. Baugh was also convicted of a new felony offense, failure to provide change of address notification to authorities. Thatcher said Baugh was sentenced to prison for 17 months. Detective Sergeant Roger Brown, KCSO, investigated the new felony offense.
Daniel Z. Goudy, 20, Mount Vernon, was convicted of breaking and entering and vandalism for throwing a chunk of broken pavement through a convenience store window in order to enter the store where he stole beer and a candy bar. According to Thatcher, Goudy was sentenced to an eleven month prison term and ordered to pay $863.66 in restitution to the business. Detective Dave McElroy, Patrolmen Andrew Burns and Brian A. Weiser, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the break-in.
Rockey E. Clark, 19, Mount Vernon, was convicted of possessing a stolen check card to make purchases at local convenience stores with a co-defendant. Clark was sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision and was ordered to pay $567.50 in restitution to the victim. Judge Eyster also sentenced Clark to serve 60 days in the Knox County Jail. In addition, Thatcher said Clark was ordered to obtain and maintain full-time employment. Clark will serve an 11 month prison term if he fails to comply with the conditions of his supervision. Detective Sergeant Gary Rohler, KCSO, investigated the case.
Leea D. Daniels, 33, Mount Vernon, was convicted of aggravated possession of drugs for possessing five Percocet pills that were found during a traffic stop by Trooper Neil Laughlin of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Thatcher said Daniels will serve a three year term of community control supervision. The conditions of Daniels’ supervision include a six month driver’s license suspension, and she will serve an 11 month prison term if she violates any supervision condition. She was also ordered to complete a drug and alcohol assessment and obtain and maintain full-time employment.
