On Friday, June 8, Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster convicted Chad E. Varner, 31, Mount Vernon, of Failure to Provide Change of Address notification to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Varner was sentenced to 24 months in prison. Prosecutor John Thatcher said Varner must register as a sex offender because of a conviction for Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor, in 2003. Varner failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office when he changed his address, on October 29, 2011. Deputy Dan Selby investigated the case.

Daniel Z. Goudy, 21, Danville, was convicted of Breaking and Entering, for breaking into a garage on Frost Alley, on October 26. Goudy was sentenced to 90 days in jail and a three year term of community control supervision. Goudy will serve an 11 month prison term, if he violates the conditions of his supervision. Deputy Mike Rutherford and Sergeant John Rine, KCSO, and Sergeant Troy Glazier, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.

Angela M. Thompson, 22, Mount Vernon was convicted of Theft for stealing 36 blank checks and then passing forged checks totaling $1,567.00, between March 1 and September 1, 2011. Thompson was sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision and ordered to pay restitution to the crime victim. Thompson will serve an 11 month prison term, if she violates the conditions of her supervision. Patrolman Justin Trowbridge, MVPD, investigated the case.

On August 11, 2011, Charles R. Fox, 19, Newark, was convicted of Receiving Stolen Property. Fox was sentenced to a three year term of community control supervision. Fox was sentenced to 330 days in jail for violating the conditions of his supervision. Thatcher said Fox failed to report to his supervising officer that he had contact with the police in Cadiz, Ohio, about a misdemeanor offense he allegedly committed, in April.

On July 29, 2011, Robert K. Doyle, 27, Mount Vernon, was convicted of Grand Theft and Receiving Stolen Property, and he was sentenced to 17 months in prison. Doyle was granted early release from prison on March 2, and he was placed on community control supervision. Thatcher said Doyle’s supervision was revoked because he tested positive for opiates, marijuana and cocaine, and he had drug paraphernalia, in May. The remainder of Doyle’s 17 month prison term was imposed.

On January 21, 2011, Robert J. Linkous, 33, Mount Vernon, was convicted of felony Domestic Violence, and he was sentenced to 17 months in prison. Linkous was granted early release from prison on February 3, and he was placed on community control supervision. Thatcher said Linkous’ supervision was revoked for failing to report to his supervising officer and for having contact with the crime victim, in February. The remainder of Linkous’ 17 month prison term was imposed.
